Mortal Wounds

2 May 2014:

Donal Stonehaven: Was knocked out and suffered minor scarring after falling 40’ into the lair of an ogre and attempting to take on the ogre in single combat.

Hagan: Critically wounded, Hagan’s left eye suffered permanent damage after taking a club to the head from the same ogre.

Rommel the war dog: Grievously wounded, Rommel lost his right eye in a full aerial assault (leaping 40’ into an open pit to land on the ogre) that resulted in the death of the same ogre.

21 March 2014:

Donal Stonehaven: Went into shock after his genitals were damaged by the lucky spear of a troglodyte. He can no longer reproduce and would like to keep the knowledge of this wound to himself.

7 March 2014:

Tyrannyth Serpenthelm: Mortally wounded, both of his arms were severed by the deadly daggers of a band of kobolds, and Tyrannyth died. After a successful casting of restore life and limb in Greyhawk City, Tyrannyth was returned to life, though the ordeal was intense. Horses are now frightened by the magic that courses through him. Tyrannyth and only ride magical or polymorphed beasts or exotic mounts such as large cats or elephants.

Simba II: Mortally wounded, his spine was severed at the neck by a kobold javelin, and Simba II died. After a successful casting of restore life and limb in Greyhawk City, Simba II was returned to life, though the ordeal was intense. As with Tyrannyth, horses are now frightened by the magic that courses through him. Simba II must keep his distance from his party’s horses or risk spooking them.

Killian, Hans, Frans, and Arnold: The party never learned what mortal wounds befell these characters, as they were either eaten or dragged off to be eaten later by two tuatara lizards.

7 February 2014:

Feredir: Critically wounded, one of his legs was lamed when his Achilles tendon was severed by one of the men sneaking into his room at the Golden Grain Inn. This wound was subsequently healed by a cleric in Greyhawk City.

10 January 2014:

Guy < insert last name here >: 1. Went into shock after being attacked by gnolls and suffered notable scarring. 2. Went into shock again after fighting the kobold chieftain, his guard, and their hired ogre, and suffered gruesome scarring.

Tyrannyth Serpenthelm: Critically wounded, he lost another hand when a kobold patrol attacked the party’s flank as the party was killing off the rest of the kobolds and their whelps.

Killian: Critically wounded, he lost a hand to the ogre hired by the kobold chieftain. It remains to be seen whether he will remain in Tyrannyth’s service or join up with Olaf to form some kind of business (maybe they could open a second-hand shop of some sort?).

13 December 2013 (Friday the 13th):

Olaf Olafsson: Critically wounded by the undead slasher’s falchion, he lost a hand, though he survived. What is it with Casey rolling severed hands on the mortal wounds table?

Donal Stonehaven: Knocked out, his wounds healed stiff and scarred (-1 to all initiative rolls).

16 November 2013:

Berik Ironfist: Mortally wounded by a hobgoblin’s sword to the back (after taking on six hobgoblins at once), both of his legs were paralyzed. After a successful casting of restore life and limb from the Church of St. Cuthbert in Greyhawk City, Berik is back to normal (though he remains shell-schocked per his wound of 1 November 2013).

1 November 2013:

Berik Ironfist: Instantly killed by the zombie lord Marcel Tarascon, his body was left largely intact. After a successful casting of restore life and limb, Berik was returned to life, though everything now seems brighter and louder than before. If he encounters very loud noises or bright lights in combat, he now has a chance of being temporarily stunned.

Tyrannyth Serpenthelm: 1. Critically wounded by Jean Tarascon, one of his hands was severed, but he survived. 2. Mortally wounded by the zombie lord, both of his legs were crushed and he died. After a successful casting of restore life and limb, Tyrannyth was returned to life, though the pallor of death remains about him. In the future, he is more likely to get along well with non-intelligent undead creatures than with his fellow living beings.

Keyrock of the Cave People: Critically wounded by the zombie lord Marcel Tarascon, one of his legs was lamed, but he survived. In the future, he may have difficulty running away from every encounter.

18 October 2013:

Nathanial Greenstone: Grievously wounded, one of his legs was severed by a giant toad trying unsuccessfully to swallow him whole. His companions killed the toad but were unable to provide healing in time to save his life.

Barada, hunting dog: Mortally wounded, his forelegs were virtually severed by kobold javelins and he did not receive magical healing in time to survive.

Four, hunting dog: Instantly killed (a bad way to go; what was left wasn’t pretty).

Feredir Went into shock after falling into the same pit trap discovered by Val in the previous session. Ghostly visions of lost companions flickered before his eyes as he awakened. Required bed rest before continuing.

20 September 2013:

Val the witch: First obtained another notable scar after falling into a kobold pit trap. Then took one or more mortal wounds resulting in her death while fighting kobolds upon returning to the caves.

6 September 2013:

Klaatu, hunting dog: Knocked out, his wound would have healed stiff and scarred had he not died from spider venom poisoning a few turns later.

Nikto, hunting dog: Mortally wounded, his rear legs were crushed by a giant spider and he did not receive magical healing in time to survive.

Simba, lion cub totem: Grievously wounded, one of his eyes was destroyed. As he prepared to continue adventuring under the name “Scar”, he too succumbed to spider venom and was subsequently skinned by his master, Keyrock of the Cave People.

Pit Viper Familiar: Grievously wounded in the head, Tyrannyth Serpenthelm‘s snake received immediate healing and survived his wounds and the giant spider’s venom, suffering only a -1 penalty to hear noise throws and surprise rolls.

Val the witch: When ambushed by kobolds, Val took a javelin to the face. While the wound turned out not to be life-threatening, Val nonetheless suffered gruesome scarring, which will give her a permanent +2 bonus to intimidate others, but a -4 penalty to all other reaction rolls. As they say, “Baby, you got real ugly!” At this time, a piece of javelin remains lodged in her cheek and its removal will take serious magical healing.
